A SUSTAINABLE PROJECT

​

Casa Lamat was born from the desire to show that it is possible to create a beautiful, comfortable hotel with quality service while remaining mindful of the impact we have on our surroundings.

Our motivation is to share a different way of traveling: more conscious, more responsible, and more connected to the environment.

We want our guests, our team, other hospitality projects, and even local authorities to see that ecotourism is not only possible, but necessary.

 

IS IT CRAZY?

Maybe. But it is also a different way of imagining hospitality.

We have developed systems for the responsible management of water, waste, and energy.

We promote activities that do not rely on gasoline-powered motors, and we are pet-friendly.

We use low-flow showers, water-efficient toilets, and biodegradable soaps.

In our kitchen, we have developed processes that significantly reduce the use of soap and other chemicals.

We treat wastewater through anaerobic biodigesters, followed by constructed wetlands with aquatic plants.

Water for our showers is heated with clean, natural energy using solar collectors and hot-water storage tanks.

Whenever possible, we choose local, natural, and organic products.

We separate and compact waste to make it easier to transport to recycling and collection centers.

Organic waste is composted, returning to the earth what comes from it.

 

MOVING DIFFERENTLY

We promote low-impact activities that do not rely on gasoline-powered motors:

Sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

We are currently developing a project to incorporate German electric motor technology powered by solar energy.

If the model proves successful, our intention is to share it and encourage a more conscious transition among the more than 200 gasoline-powered boats currently operating in Bacalar.

We believe caring for the lagoon is a shared responsibility.

That is why we seek to raise awareness and work alongside residents, businesses, and local authorities so Bacalar can grow as a truly sustainable ecotourism destination.

And remain as beautiful as it is today.
